Hande Oynar

This little French bistro is the latest culinary addition to Meşrutiyet Caddesi in Beyoglu, and if it weren't for the bright yellow taxi stands right outside Le Petit Bistrot, you might feel as if you were in Paris. The décor and ambiance does what it is supposed to do-transport you to the city of love. Banquet tables festooned with grapes, champagne, wine, and candles, a room with white tablecloth tables, wall decorations of French artist Paul Colin's figures as well as photos by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau all add to the feel. The menu is also what you'd expect of a traditional French establishment, with items such as onion soup with Emmental cheese and goose liver lentil soup. Entrees include pasta and fish and some of the highlights are the Moules Marinière, with mussels imported from New Zealand. Another imported item, the flageolet beans, come from France. Some filling and delicious dishes are fresh green beans and almond seabass, salmon with a saffron, leek and gemolata sauce, and lamb chops with peppers. Any of the above with a side of goat's cheese and wild mushrooms, cous cous, feta cheese and sautéed spinach, makes for a pretty good feed. They also have an excellent wine list, in addition to savoury liquors like amaretto, grappa and limoncello. On a separate occasion, try one of their rich desserts like the Tarte Tatin, a pear dessert with anise, or the Tarte au Citron, a mint cream and lemon sweet. A lighter choice, ironically, is the strawberry flavoured Crème Brulee Napoleon.
Open everyday, except Sunday, 11:30-2 am.
