Vertu recently opened in the hottest corner of Bebek, right near Lucca and Catz. Until now, Vertu was a bar/nightclub; however, it has started serving food as well, thus expanding on its original concept. The venue has a beautiful view of Bebek Park; go one floor up and the view is that much better (unfortunately we’ll have to wait till summer to enjoy the terrace; once in use, the venue will have a 130-person capacity). Velvet fuchsia couches near the window allow you to enjoy your food while people-watching. The first thing you’ll notice upon entering is the large TV, bar and DJ section. The owners are focused on attracting customers with their food and have made a number of additions. Chef Ayşe has created every dish on the Mediterranean menu herself. Because the venue does morph into a hip bar later in the evening, the menu also features many smaller appetizer and finger-food options. For those who stop by for lunch, there is a daily soup. Olive oil based vegetable dishes, ‘zeytinyağlı’, are chosen based on the vegetables in season.  Sea bass salad, Aegean-style ‘çökertme’ and almond sea bass are particularly popular. The meze plate includes 3 different options- octopus salad, spinach root and parsley salad. Every Tuesday you can enjoy oldies music from DJ Levent Erim. Açelya and Grup Latino perform Wednesdays. On Saturdays you can enjoy club music at Vertu. As for the clientele, it differs widely based on what day you stop by. During the week, DJ Levent Erim fans dominate the venue; while on the weekends, a younger crowd fills the bar area. The venue is also a favourite for private parties and birthdays. The best thing about Vertu is definitely the fact that its one of the few nightclubs in Bebek; we’ll find out soon enough whether their new menu will keep customers coming back for more.
