Film&DVD
Director: David Goyer
This supernatural thriller focuses on Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman), a young woman who is caught in a world of nightmares where demonic spirits haunt her. The idea is based on the fantastical theory that sometimes the body of a dead person has been so tainted with evil that it is denied entrance into heaven. The body thus goes in search of a body that it can inhabit, usually failing to do so, remaining in a stasis unfulfilled and miserable. However, somteims the undead succeeds and is able to inhabit another body. One of the saving graces of the movie is writer/director David Goyer, who also directed Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, and the uber successful Batman Begins. Casey ends up turning to a spiritual advisor played by Gary Oldman, who is the only one who can save her from her situation. The film thrills and both Yustman and Oldman provide stellar performances; however, the film is so fantastical, only the most imaginative horror/thriller movie fans will truly appreciate it.
