5 stars for Chili's
Mexican food lovers who have subsisted on homemade guacamole with insanely expensive avocados that are never quite right can rejoice! Chili’s has just opened in Etiler. Sure, there is El Torito and the much more authentic Picante, but the addition of Chili’s is truly exciting. Though nothing special in the states, Chili’s here has managed to up the ante and is much more impressive here than anywhere else (why does that happen? Compare TGIF here with those in the states, you’ll understand what we mean). The 3-story restaurant opened on Nispetiye Caddesi and has a typical American diner feel to it. The entrance floor is decorated with blue-green neon lights, complete with diner-style tables. Go one floor up, and you’ll find yourself on the ‘green floor’, which is decorated with, go figure, green lights but what’s worth mentioning is the adjacent room, which is a large balcony that overlooks Nispetiye- sure to be a hit in the summer. The top floor decorated in red hues is perfect for larger groups and private parties. The items on the menu are Chili’s original recipes, which have been adjusted for Turkey (dishes inappropriate for the Turkish palate, 4 pages of dishes to be exact, have been removed from the menu!)
The menu was tested by over 1000 people and adjusted according to feedback; also, the servings have been minimized significantly! The fresh ingredients are supplied from Turkey, while the special sauces and corn (which is native to America) come from the States. The attention to detail here is so over-the-top you’ll have a hard time finding something to complain about. Even the music has been shipped from the states.
The menu’s appetizers include Buffalo wings, nachos, quesadillas, salads and soups. Keep in mind that because the portions are hefty, one starter can be shared by multiple people. The burgers and sandwiches, fajitas that include a shrimp version, and grilled items (of which we specifically recommend the ‘Cajun rib-eye’), are perfect for every palate. Fish lovers must try the Southwest cedar plank halibut, which is served with seasoned rice and veggies. There are also 3 special options for those on a diet. But for those who aren’t, we highly recommend leaving some room for dessert! The apple tart is particularly delicious. They’ve incorporated another American tradition; you can enjoy non-alcoholic drinks, with unlimited refills, for 6TL! The cocktail menu is expansive but you really can’t go without trying the margarita! The drinks are prepared with Olmeca Tequila and the El Nino, made with tequila, Cointreau, Triple Sec and orange juice is just one of Chili’s original recipe cocktails.
As you can tell, we couldn’t be more excited Chili’s opened.
Highly recommended.
