From Osman Hamdi Bey to İbrahim Çallı, from Feyhaman Duran to Namık İsmail, this exhibition brings together our 19th century painters. The 15 artists exposed include painters with military origins like Şeker Ahmet Paşa and Halil Paşa, together with the works of painters that incorporate new approaches to the art of painting with analytical solutions and expressionist interpretations. The exhibition carries 150 pieces including a first time representation of Hamdi Bey’s famous ‘Turtle-tamer’’s second version which belongs to a private collection. Curator Ferit Edgü’s exhibition also presents the works of artists like Jean-Léon Gérôme and Gustave Boulanger who taught the first generation of Turkish artists in Paris. Don’t miss it; last day is June 30th.
