The ‘Underground’ film and video showings are being put together by Poetix and KargART. Otar Iosselian’s 1964 ‘Tudzhi’ film-The film has a quality of composition created by the frames captured in a steel factory by the director. On one side the concrete platforms, the rustling chains, the melted metal’s scorching torrents, the filtering smoke waves from the tall chimneys and the smoke blackened bricks; on the other side, those preparing lunch, cigarette smokers perched on the tracks and workers drying their clothes on the air turbine. Bruce Connor’s 1976 ‘Crossroads’- The music of this film, based on the government archive images of the underwater atomic bomb trials performed at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific on the 25th of July 1946, belong to Terry Riley and Patrick Gleeson.
