Addio Mamma

Writer: Cimen Uzsoy

Fuat Kanalan and Uluç Yuca, business partners are responsible for Addio Mamma. Meaning ‘farewell to your mother’, the venue definitely isn’t a place to come to with your mother. Addio Mamma is where music, food, and fun all come together under one roof.  Literally, there’s something for everyone from fasıl music to DJ performances. The venue has hats and costumes, green and red spotlights and a turning colorful disco light, so you might even find yourself dressed up and dancing after a drink or 3. Addio Mamma is like a cabaret with food if you ask us. The bottom floor is where the fasıl dinners are along with other themed nights. On the 2nd floor guests are able to choose the music selection or you can sit back and listen to what El Patro, the DJ spins. The music on the different floors don’t interfere with one another, however, we can’t say the same thing about the guests. There’s too much movement of people going from the fasıl dinners to the upstairs area and vice versa; i.e you’ve got rakıs and mojitos all over the place. The 2nd floor has a balcony where you can smoke. The fasıl event are approx 2.5-3 hour long performances. The venue also can be used for large organized parties, for groups of 25 and more, with live dancing, performances, orchestras, and karaoke. This could be a really great idea for a New Years event, so if you’re thinking along these lines as well, remember that the last day to make reservations is around December 15th. If you’re coming here for the food alone, the menu is a rich one. There’s a fixed menu for groups with a price of 60TL per head which includes a full meal and unlimited local alcohol. The fixed menu with unlimited imported alcohol is 90TL. There’s also a fixed menu that Addio Mamma came up with for parties; the cocktails and snacks menu is 60TL. If you don’t like the food on the fixed menu you can choose from Turkish cuisine, which has a wide variety of mezes that contain pistachio, or the international cuisine which also has a wide variety to choose from, so glance over all options before making a decision. The tapas selection at Addio Mamma has one dish (called topik) that is made with chickpeas, onion and cumin. Also try their hot Antep cheese which is very similar in taste to mozzarella. For a main course try the Addio Mamma burger bursting with flavor. The whole-wheat wrap selections are ideal for those on a diet, as are the salads. Beside the mojito which is very good, we loved the Addio Mamma cocktail which is a mixture of Arabic gum and cinnamon, this can also be had as a shot.
