The Dub Pistols were formed in the late 1980s by guitarist John King and Bill Borez. After Malcolm Wax, who was known for his Ibiza-root house rhythms, joined the band they were almost complete. Barry never really liked the group Deja Vu, who had a hit with ‘Why Why Why’ and released a bunch more hits after that. Deja Vu broke up after their first and last album, ‘Gangsters, Tarts Wannabes’ and Ashworth then joined the Dub Pistols. Ashworth was inspired by the Chemical Brothers and Jon Carter’s Heavenly Social Club in becoming a DJ and began recording Dub Pistols ‘Point Black’ with bassist Jason O’Bryan. The group became quite popular in Europe and then the States for their unique use of the live bass guitar on stage during electronic music. They most recently released a remix album titled’ Y4K: Next Level Breaks’. They will soon release their latest, highly anticipated album and then head out on a world tour.
